The Pediatric Difference -
We believe that children need health care providers who are specially trained in children's medicine.
Kids are not little adults.
Their labs, x-rays and problems are different and they can get sicker quicker than adults because their immune systems are still developing. Very young children cannot communicate well, so it is critical to know children's diseases.
What is a Pediatrician?
A Pediatrician is a doctor who has completed a minimum of 4 years of medical school and 3 years of specialized training, exclusively in the needs and concerns of children.
Additionally, Pediatricians complete at least 50 hours of continuing education each year, again, exclusively studying children and their specific needs.
What is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?
CPNP - A Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is a nurse practitioner who is board certified and specializes in pediatric care. A CPNP has 18 months to 2 years in pediatric training plus years of nursing as a pediatric nurse.
In summary...
A Pediatrician or Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is a well-trained health care provider for children, exclusively. In time of crisis or critical illness, these specialists may be better able to assist your child.
Additionally, all of our staff members are specifically trained in caring for children and their needs.
